On April 3rd 2007 Zee chairman Subhash Chandra announced a breakaway cricket series called the Indian Cricket League (ICL). With a kitty of Rs 100 crore (US$ 23 million approx) in the project, which would run parallel to the leagues and tournaments of the Board of Control for Cricket in India the announcement of this league is become the talking point of India.
