Wasim Akram (born June 3, 1966 in Lahore) is a former Pakistani Test and ODI cricketer.
A left-arm fast bowler, Wasim was the first bowler in the world to take 400 wickets in both formats of the game. He took four hat-tricks in international cricket, two each in Tests and ODIs.
Wasim was also an attacking lower order batsman and made three hundreds in Test cricket. In a Test against Zimbabwe at Sheikhupura in 1996-97, Wasim scored 257 from number 8 which is a record by a batsman in that position. In the innings he hit 12 sixes, another Test record.
He was a member of Pakistan's 1992 World Cup winning side and was the tournament's leading wicket taker with 18 wickets. His 3 for 49 in the final earned him the Man of the Match award. He was one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1993.
