Jack Hobbs

Sir John Berry "Jack" Hobbs (16 December 1882 – 21 December 1963) was an English cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsman in the history of the game. An opening batsman, his first-class tallies of 61,670 runs and 199 centuries are both records. In Test cricket he played 61 matches for England and scored 5,410 runs at an average of 56.94. His opening partnership with Herbert Sutcliffe, which averaged 87.81, is the most renowed in Test history. Knighted in 1953, he was selected as one of five Wisden Cricketers of the Century in 2000.
