Sir Leonard Hutton (23 June 1916 – 6 September 1990) was an English cricketer who played for and captained his country. Considered one of the greatest opening batsman in the history of the sport, his 79-Test career produced 6,791 Test runs at an average of 56.67. In 1938 he scored 364 against Australia at The Oval, the innings breaking Don Bradman's Test record highest score. He was most productive following World War II, when he scored 14 of his 19 Test centuries. He was appointed captain in 1952, England's first professional skipper in 65 years, and led the team to Ashes victories in 1953 and 1954/55.
